Safeguarding

We have a whole school approach to safeguarding, which is the golden thread that runs throughout every aspect of Appleford School. Our fundamental priority is our children and their wellbeing; this is first and foremost.

Early Help at Appleford

Early help is support for children of all ages that aims to improve a families resilience and outcomes, or reduces the chance of a problem getting worse.

Early help at Appleford means providing support as soon as a problem emerges.

Appleford school staff are particularly alert to the potential need for early help for any child.

Operation Encompass

The school has been given the opportunity to take part in a project that will run jointly between schools and Wiltshire Police: ENCOMPASS is the reporting to schools, by the next school day, when a child or young person has affected by a domestic incident.

ENCOMPASS will ensure that a member of the school staff, known as a Key Adult, will be shared the information in confidence, while ensuring that the school is able to make provision for possible difficulties experienced by children, or their families, who have been involved in, affected or exposed to a domestic abuse incident. In this instance the Key Adult will be the school DSL which is Mrs Julia Hendrickse,  who will treat this information in line with the schools safeguarding and child protection policy.

We are keen to offer the best support possible to all our pupils and we believe this will be extremely beneficial for all those involved.
