Appleford School is a specialist day and boarding school for pupils aged 7-18 with dyslexia and associated learning needs, set in the beautiful Wiltshire countryside in the village of Shrewton, just off the A303. School Secretary / Receptionist

This position is 52 weeks per year
Monday–Friday 8.45am – 5.15pm term-time
Monday-Friday 9.00am – 4.00pm school holidays

We are looking for an experienced, friendly, organised individual to join our team at Appleford School.

You will need:

  • Excellent typing skills
  • Computer literate (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of iSAMS would be an advantage, but training will be given.
  • Good organisational and communication skills
  • A genuine interest in the welfare of children is essential.

Salary:  £18,283.20 per annum

Boarding Assistant

Part time, Term time only
Monday–Thursday 4:45 – 9pm, or 6-10pm, and alternate weekends

We are looking for an enthusiastic, friendly individual to join our team at Appleford School.  You will need to have excellent interpersonal skills and be computer literate (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Good organisational and communication skills and a genuine interest in the welfare of young people are essential.

We are a warm and caring community where each boarding house is a home from home for the pupils who board with us.

Boarding Assistants share the pastoral responsibility for the well-being of the boarding pupils in the five Houses outside of the school day. Supporting children as young as 7 years old, through to our 6th form house with students attending college. Working under the direction of the Houseparent to ensure the House functions in accordance with the Boarding policies and procedures of Appleford.

Duties will involve participating in activities with students such as: games, cooking, craft, sporting activities and quizzes. Boarding Assistants are expected to help students with their studies and provide pastoral support along with the bedtime routine in the boarding house which includes room checks, hygiene monitoring and electronic device collection.

You will need to attend Staff meetings where appropriate, complete EduCare and Safeguarding training and attend INSET training days.

Speech and Language Therapist

Part time, Term time only
With experience based competitive salary
Starting January 2021

We are looking for an enthusiastic, friendly individual to join our small but expanding team at Appleford School.  You will need:

  • A recognised Speech and Language Therapy qualification
  • HCPC registration
  • To be a member of the RCSLT
  • Completion of newly-qualified competency framework

You will be working 3 days per week in Term-time only, with a specialist caseload of pupils who have specific learning difficulties including: dyslexia, autism, language disorders and social communication difficulties.  You will work closely with onsite Occupational Therapists, the Pastoral Team, and Academic and Boarding Staff to ensure communication targets are incorporated into the educational setting.

Learning Support Assistant

Term time only
Monday-Thursday 8.50am-4.50pm and Friday 8.50am-3pm

Due to increasing numbers, we are looking for enthusiastic Learning Support Assistants to work in the upper school from January 2021 (or sooner if possible). Candidates must have GCSE or equivalent A-C Grade in English and Maths, be prepared to undertake training and have a desire to work with children / young people.

Successful candidates will have excellent communication skills, a confident manner and flexible approach to work.
