The Sarsen Trail

Upper School pupils rose from their beds very early on a Friday morning to complete a challenge –The Sarsen Trail. This is a 26 mile walk linking the two World Heritage Sites of Avebury and Stonehenge. Their route was a tough undulating cross country walk which was a difficult challenge for pupils to complete in one day, however they did it!

The purpose of the walk was not only to set themselves a challenge (Appleford pupils like challenges), but also to raise money for their charity for the year, The Wiltshire Bobby Van Trust. The charity works in partnership with the Wiltshire Police to provide a home security service for elderly, vulnerable and disadvantaged people throughout Wiltshire.

A huge thank you must go to the staff at the Stonehenge Visitor Centre, for providing shuttle bus transport for families meeting their children as they crossed the finish line at Stonehenge. Over 10 hours of walking completed, happy faces, tired feet, money raised, challenge accomplished. Well done everyone.
