John Harris, Paralympian, visited Appleford

John Harris, Paralympian, came to give a talk to the School during the Autumn Term. His incredibly direct message was that you can achieve anything, no matter what adversity you have faced. He was paralysed after an accident and went on to win Paralympic Gold. His speech was extraordinarily inspiring, thought-provoking and caused both laughter and tears. He has competed in marathons and has climbed Kilimanjaro to raise money and awareness to help disabled youngsters into sport. We are very much hoping to invite John back to Appleford in the New Year.

“During John’s talk, you could have heard a pin drop,
so engrossed were the pupils”

“A huge number of the children wanted to shake John’s hand afterwards”
