17/10/14 – Steve Birch Retirement

Teacher Steve Birch has retired from Appleford School after 26 years.

Pupils and staff at Appleford said their final farewells to Steve Birch on Friday 17 October. Mr Birch has been with the school since it first opened its doors to pupils with dyslexia and associated learning difficulties 26 years ago. During that time he has taken on many roles, including Head of English, Head of Science and Houseparent. Headmaster of Appleford David King said “Steve has always put the children of Appleford first and he has cared deeply about the school. He knows the name of every child that has passed through Appleford and regularly when old pupils contact us, they always ask after Mr Birch. That is the greatest legacy for a teacher. He will be greatly missed.”
