Science Teacher

To start in September 2017

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, dynamic and inspirational teacher of Science.

The successful applicant will be an outstanding teacher joining a strong and supportive department which delivers science to GCSE level.

Appleford welcomes applications from both NQTs or an experienced teacher.

Appleford is a highly successful co-educational day and boarding school for pupils from 7 to 18 years, set in the beautiful Wiltshire countryside in the village of Shrewton, just off the A303. Rated ‘Excellent’ by ISI in all categories, the school has been providing the highest quality teaching for pupils with dyslexia for over 25 years.

Appleford has small classes of up to 9 pupils and an ethos based on developing confidence, celebrating success and continuous support. More importantly, we instill a belief in our children that dyslexia is no barrier to learning and we expect them to do well.

Pay: Main Scale with SEN1 allowance for SpLD qualified.

Experience of working with SpLD pupils an advantage, but not essential as full training will be provided.

Finance Manager

Job description:

Appleford Ltd is looking to appoint a qualified, experienced part-time Finance Manager who will be responsible for the management of finances of a very successful independent day/boarding school nr Salisbury in Wiltshire, and a care home for young people nr Shipham in Somerset.

The Finance Manager will be expected to produce monthly directors’ packs / management accounts, monthly budgets, provide forecasting, monitoring and be expected to provide regular briefings on Appleford Ltd’s financial performance. The successful applicant will be directly accountable to the proprietor / managing director and will meet regularly with the proprietor and managers in both locations to present reports as required and to provide quality financial advice.

The successful applicant will also be responsible for the small finance team in both locations who are responsible for the daily management and pay roll.

The role requires a qualified accountant with a good track record of relevant practical experience, who is a member of a recognised accountancy professional body.

Person Specification:

  • Management accountancy qualification
  • Strong financial and accounting skills ensuring the timely production of month-end accounts, forecasting and budgeting
  • Identify and manage variances
  • Thorough working knowledge of sage accounting and payroll packages required
  • Proficient in MS Office, in particular MS Word and Excel, and databases
  • Ability to take over roles in the finance team if required
  • Experience of working to deadlines
  • Strong team management skills and experience
  • Experience of holding a similar post within education or care sector would be a bonus

Remuneration:

Salary according to qualifications and experience.
